Back To School – Prayers For ParentsSample
God, I Want You In The Routine
A new school year means a new routine. The lazy days of school break are over, requiring the alarm to ring a bit earlier each morning. As much as we try to carefully script out the routine, lay out clothes the night before, prepare lunches, and plan out the route to school, something always comes up.
God wants to be part of your new family routine—whether it be in the morning around breakfast or before bed as you wind down for the day. Schedule some time with your family around God’s Word. Connect with each other discuss how God’s Word applies to each person’s day. Pray together, thanking God for how He is working in your lives.
Time with God and your kids can be fun, especially when the entire family is involved! Think outside the box and make devotions a time they look forward to all day.
- Read the Bible in a fun way. Consider acting out the portion you read or building the scene from Legos. Mix it up and encourage the family to have fun.
- Answer questions. All kids have questions so encourage them to ask. That is how they learn. Then go to the Bible and find the answer together.
- Share quality time. Be open about what is going on in your lives and pray together.
- Serve. The Bible is all about application. Put it into practice by serving others. Each day, brainstorm ways of applying the lesson and then come back together to discuss how it went.
Suggested Prayer
God, life is about to get really busy. As we begin our school routine, we want to include You. Help me train my children that You are the most important person in their life. Help me show them that we are never too busy to spend time with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
