Prayers for Purpose

DAY 2 OF 5

They will not build and another inhabit, They will not plant and another eat; For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, And My chosen ones will wear out the work of their hands. They will not labor in vain.  Isaiah 65:22,23a

Lord and Savior, work can frequently be tied to a paycheck, or to producing something for someone else. It’s a transaction – something we do in exchange for something we get. Help me not to get stuck in a rut of transaction. Instead, show me the significance of where You have led me to work and in what I do. I desire so much more than clocking in and clocking out, God.

I desire that You will expand the borders and reach of my work so that it impacts people in a profound way. Whether that is in expanding my influence in my career, in the office, with my co-workers or even in what I produce. I want to no longer just build for someone else to inhabit, or merely plant so that someone else can eat. Wear out the work of my hands so that I will not labor in vain. Cause my work to grow and open doors for me that only You can open. Nehemiah was only a cupbearer to the king, but You used that position to lead him to rebuild his entire nation. It matters not how significant my job title or location is – what matters is what You do with it for Your glory and for others’ good. In Christ's name, amen.
