The Truths Of His ComingSample
Hope Found In Jesus
Hebrews 2:9-13
God’s plan for Christ’s humble coming to earth is the most wonderful thing known to humanity, though sadly, not everyone realizes this. God’s plan offers the only hope we have of ever fulfilling our purpose on earth—to have dominion over it (Genesis 1:26-28). Because we are fallen and enslaved by sin, we have lost our dominion over the earth, and we live in a corruptible and dying world that is engulfed in suffering. But in the midst of all the suffering and death, we see Jesus. And in seeing Jesus, we see hope—hope that all the sin and evil, death and suffering of this world, will be conquered and overcome. How? By what God has planned in Christ; by what God has done in Christ.
Jesus Christ suffered and tasted death for every person. Because He died for us, God has crowned Him with the glory and honor of heaven. The point is this: Christ has made it possible for us to be restored to our destined glory and dominion. Christ has made it possible for us to live eternally with God and to fulfill our purpose on earth. Christ has made it possible for us to recover our dominion, to recover our rule and reign in the world that is to come. This was part of God’s eternal plan for Christ. And it is one of the greatest reasons we celebrate the coming of our Savior. Because Christ came, we have the hope of reigning with Him in a new earth, one that has been restored to righteousness through His redeeming death! We will one day live out the purpose for which God placed us on this earth—to have dominion over it. Rejoice in that truth this Christmas season, and worship our Lord for His beautiful and perfect sacrifice!
