The Glory of this City
Thoughts on the Passage
There are several thoughts here worth considering.
First, the temple. The temple was a building dedicated to the presence of God. God’s presence in this city is all encompassing – no one building is needed. God’s presence gives light to the whole city and so there is no requirement to have one place to house His presence. Paul says that God’s people are the temple of God and with the city being the Bride – there is no need for a separate building.
Second, the concept of glory. God’s glory fills the place with light. God’s glory is so powerful that we would die if we saw it. Moses desired to see God’s glory – God would only show him His goodness. That was so bright that Moses’ face shone when he came down the mountain. Now the full glory of God will fill this city. But that is not the only glory here – the nations and leaders bring their glory into this house. Every nation has distinctions. God has special blessing for individual nations. Now, the people of those nations can bring that glory into this city. The nations take time to say “God, You created us to do these amazing things – and here is what we have done with what You gave to us!”. It will be a great day for every nation to bring their glory into the city.
Third, there is no night. There is no darkness of any kind. There will be no need to have electricity – God provides all the light that is needed. There is also no spiritual darkness. There will be no wickedness here – ever. That is a powerful promise. The Bride will be filled with broken people – but they will be healed. Others who refuse to change – will never be allowed to enter.
Prayer
Father, I long for the day that I can see Your glory. Moses desired it and so do I. I know that I cannot see it now, but I long to see it sometimes. I will see it for eternity. I long to see the face of Jesus. I long to see His glory reflected on the faces of Your people from the nations as well. I long to see the glory of the nations – the beauty that You created for each of them. It will be great to see them honor You that way. I long to have no night – physically and spiritually. I long for the day that darkness is banished forever. Keep cleansing the darkness out of my life. Keep healing the darkness in Your Bride so that we can be clean and spotless. In Jesus Name, Amen.

About this Plan
Many of us have thought about what our heavenly home will be like. In Plan 13 of Revelation, we read the description of heaven and start painting all these wonderful pictures in our minds. But we will never come close to picturing what God our Father has in store for us. So let us take heed of Jesus final message in Revelation and make sure we don’t miss out on what God is preparing for us.
