The Daily Dose: 30 Days To A Healthy Soul

DAY 18 OF 30

Live to the Hilt

Psalms 118:24 "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Jim Elliott is one of my spiritual heroes. He was a missionary who lived all out for Jesus, and his testimony continues to shout how great God is. Jim Elliott once said, “Wherever you are, be all there. Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God.”

When it comes to our lives, there is no wiser counsel. On any given day, God is able to change our circumstances, but He is far more interested in changing our hearts through our trials and through our victories. Not only is God able to give His best for us, He's also good enough to do it. So if God is able to and if God is good, then no matter where we find ourselves today, God has allowed us to be there for a reason.

Now think about Jim’s words. If you’re a follower of Jesus and seeking to obey the Lord, then wherever you find yourself today, choose to be all there. Don’t wish you were somewhere else. Live to the hilt. Believe that you’re in God’s will, because by God’s grace, you are.

The psalmist explained it this way: "this is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." This day - no matter what you're up against, rejoice. It's God's purpose fo you today.

Questions:

What’s your general attitude about your life right now? Do you find joy in the details of each day? How can you make sure you are living each day to the hilt?
