Why Did God Bless Some People More Than Others?Sample
Where Do I Fit In God’s Plan?
What is the answer to poverty and where do I fit? God has called us to get involved! In our passages today, we learn that God gave us big responsibility. He has called us to be an advocate to the poor and needy.
An advocate is one who speaks up for and defends the rights of another.
We can be an advocate for those who are destitute and we can defend the rights of the poor and needy. In fact, that is the heartbeat of what we do at Compassion International. With the help of child sponsors around the world, we defend the rights of children in poverty. That passion compels us to action.
Compassion’s long-term programs remove many of the practical aspects of poverty and build a child’s confidence, aspirations and goals!
Child sponsorship is critical in God’s plan to release children from poverty. In a world where 1.37 billion people live on less than $1.25 per day, child sponsorship—connecting one child with one sponsor—is the most strategic way to end child poverty.
Through monthly financial support, prayer and letter writing, sponsors invest directly in the lives of children living in extreme poverty. The children attend church-based child development centers where they receive life-changing opportunities that would otherwise be out of their reach. Compassion’s programs relieve both internal and external poverty.
God is honored when we do right, seek justice, defend the oppressed, take up the cause of the orphan and advocate for the widow. A compassionate, self-denial is necessary to serve God fully, expecting nothing in return. The people who need you most can never repay. Will you open your heart to serve the poor?
Will you be an advocate for a child in poverty?
Ask Yourself: Am I willing to step out and become an advocate for a child who is living in poverty? If yes, what is the next step? If not, what is holding me back?
Suggested Prayer: Heavenly Father, I ask You to use me. Remove the obstacles standing in my way. Give a passion to help the poor, an advocate for those You love.
