Summer Love

DAY 7 OF 14

Frank advice

If you have ever tried to lose weight, you will know how much you try to trick yourself. “This little biscuit couldn’t do much” … “I’ll get back on the programme tomorrow”… “There are no calories if you eat it quickly”. Usually, the dieter actually knows they are telling themselves lies, but the desire for food is stronger than the desire for truth.

It is in fact an act of love to correct someone who has gone astray. Sure, it can be done insensitively, but love, knowledge and correction are tightly bound to each other. There’s no point knowing something if you don’t correct the wrongs that it highlights. And there’s no point, once you know the truth, wasting your time in error. The Bible doesn’t mince words: it’s stupid.

Question: In what areas of life do you have the knowledge, but resist the discipline and correction?

About this Plan

Summer Love

“Love is love” has become a catchphrase of our times. But it does not have any meaning until we define what love is. The Christian starting point is to say that God is love. This series looks to understand the nature of God’s love. By the end of the series, I hope that the word ‘love’ has all the rich and flavoursome ingredients to it that Scripture has to offer.
