As you read the Bible you can miss the funny moments that the authors have put into their stories if you only read it verse by verse. Remember the Bible is alive and active, and as you read it, it will make you laugh and it will make you cry. Such a passage is found in a pinnacle section of the life of Jesus found in John 20:1-10. Jesus has just died, and the author, John, is describing the moment that he and Peter find the tomb empty. This is the ‘resurrection’, the most powerful moment in our salvation history, but John decides that at this moment he is going to put a running race between Peter and himself (the beloved disciple). So, as you read this pinnacle moment you get the sense that this typical ‘boy’ has to tell you that he won the running race to the tomb. Read it, it’s hysterical!
