Love God Greatly: Faithful Love Sample

In today´s verses, God reviews the history of His relationship with the Jews. You don’t find grapes in the desert, but if you did, it would thrill you. That’s how God felt when He called Israel. The early fruit of the fig tree is especially good, and Israel was special to the Lord. But this joyful experience didn’t last, for King Balak gave Israel her first taste of Baal worship, and the nation indulged in idolatry and immorality with its neighbors (Numbers 25).
“God planted His people in a special land, but they polluted the land with their idols (Hos. 9:13). The more prosperous they became, the more they turned away from God. Now they must suffer a bitter harvest for their sins, they and their children.” – Warren Wiersbe
Because of their sin, they would be wanderers among the nations. This was a promise made under the terms of the Old Covenant. Thankfully, through Jesus Christ, we can come to God by faith in a new and better covenant (Hebrews 8:12, 10:16-17). Psalm 77 reminds us that the Lord has not forgotten to be gracious. His compassion is bigger than His anger.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your patience towards me. Thank You for giving me a new covenant through Jesus Christ. Thank You for Your grace, for the overwhelming, undeserved and never-ending mercy You have shown me. Amen.
About this Plan

Faithful love. Covenant promise. Everlasting commitment. Not only do these words describe the relationship of God to His people, but they describe the relationship of Hosea to his wife, Gomer. Hosea reminds us that God is a covenant keeping God. His faithful love pursues His people, His promises remain steadfast, and His commitment remains sure. This story offers encouragement and hope, showing how God’s faithful love pursues us.
