Reading The Bible In Historical Sequence Part 6Sample

Amos denounces sin in the Northern Kingdom, foretelling of ruin and exile unless they repent. Jeroboam II opposes him. Amos returns to Judah and writes his prophecy – declaring that God is going to severely punish all Israel (Amos 7:9, 8:11–14, 9:8–10) but much later bless and restore her. In 784 BC Jeroboam dies and a period of anarchy follows.
Note 2 Kings 14:29: Ussher states that after Jeroboam II died in 784 BC the Northern Kingdom declined into anarchy (foretold in Amos 7–8) with no-one reigning for almost 12 years. In 773 BC, Prince Zechariah started to reign but after six months was murdered by Shallum.
