DAY 2 OF 7

Day 2

The World’s Gone Crazy

Deuteronomy 31:8

Which one of us has not been touched by the chaos of our fallen world? Immorality. Violence. Corruption. Jesus told His disciples that in the last days before He returned, life would be as it was in the days of Noah. Although God didn’t outright name immorality in Noah’s day, the image of the “sons of God” having sex with the “daughters of man” (Genesis 6:2) pretty much gives that impression.

We don’t live in a world that trusts Him anymore. Not a day goes by that the news does not show some violent act. Terrorism. Hatred. Riots. Tyranny. Greed. Corruption. Pride.

Noah had three sons, and they each took wives whose families didn’t join them on the ark. Only eight people—Noah’s family—did so. It’s likely the women in his life did a lot of grieving for the loved ones who could not see that judgment was coming.

It doesn’t take huge faith to follow God. Sometimes all we have is faith the size of a small seed. But however small, it can be a first step. God doesn’t expect us to have the faith to move mountains when we first come to Him. That’s what grace is for. He gives us time to get to know Him, just as He spent time with Adam and Eve in the garden. God has always, always wanted His creation to fellowship with, befriend, and know Him in a personal way. That is why chaos doesn’t have to rule. God offers us so much more.

Even amid the threat of coming judgment and the knowledge that our human hearts are flawed, there is hope. This is not the end, just as the flood was not the end. There is a new beginning of promise for those who believe in God.

Because of Jesus, there is greater hope than Noah’s family had that day when they hoped more people would join them. We already see great numbers of people coming to faith in Christ across the world. And more will come if we will believe, if we but ask God to bring them. I’m asking God for thousands of people to yet believe. Will you join me?

Lord, please help me to focus on You instead of on the world’s chaos, so I can be a light of hope to all who don’t know You yet.

About this Plan

When Life Doesn’t Match Your Dreams By Jill Eileen Smith

Life is full of twists and turns, and the roads we travel don’t always lead to where we intended to go. Our faith is tested in those moments when we must face choices we never wanted to make or grapple with circumstances we never expected. But when we can’t see the dreams anymore, when life is more trial than triumph, that’s when we can grow stronger.
