Selective Hearing
Following Jesus is a community activity. We are a member of Christ’s body, the church. Every community has leaders. Jesus Christ is the head, the ultimate leader, of his church. But He blesses His church with human leaders. Leaders are accountable to the risen Lord Jesus for your life and teaching. Conduct your ministry with vigour, care, and humility. Godly leaders are God’s gift to you. Pray for them, encourage them, and obey them as they minister God’s word to you.
Think of a person who is making, or has made, a significant difference to your Christian life. Pray to God in thanks for them. What can you do to encourage them in their ministry?

Read through the book of Amos, which highlights the faithlessness, stubbornness and oppressiveness of God’s chosen people. In the end, take encouragement from God’s promise of future restoration for his people.
