The 8 Great Promises of JesusSample
Promise #1 - Jesus will take care of you
FOCUS VERSE: Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
“Don’t worry. Be happy.”
Yeah, right.
Have those two words—don’t & worry—ever taken away anxiety from anyone? Not to my knowledge.
They’re just words. Words are only carefully tuned breaths that fire out your pie-hole and enter someone’s earhole and go out the other (if that’s at all possible). For the most part, they express a wish, a possible hope-so.
So, what can make all the difference when those two words are expressed? It all depends on who says those words.
If your car breaks down and a five-year-old child walks up wearing one shoe and holding a stick in his hand and says “Don’t worry, mister,” you wonder what good will a five year old child with a stick do (I mean he can’t even find his shoe). But if the Senior Vice President of Your Car’s Manufacturing and Service Center walks up with his Senior Mechanic and says “Don’t worry”—you wouldn’t worry.
The Senior VP just told you that he understands the situation and knows exactly how to fix it.
What if Jesus walks up to you and says, “Don’t worry,”? Now how do you respond? Do you have more faith in the one-shoe kid or the Senior Muckety-Muck? Truth is, what you believe about Jesus is wrapped up in your response to His words, “Don’t worry.”
In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus clearly said “Don’t worry.”
“But, Jesus…” “Don’t worry.”
“You don’t understand…” “Don’t worry.”
“I need food…” “Don’t worry.”
From these verses, Jesus says to you:
· I see what you need
· I’ve done these things before for animals and plants
· Life is really more than what you see around you
· Life is short
· Don’t act like a non-believer
· You got enough on your plate today
· There’s enough to worry about in this world, why add more?
Wow, how do you respond to that? Yeah-but?
Really? You would Yeah-but the eternal Creator of the universe Who holds everything together, Who knows-all, sees-all?
How you respond to Jesus saying “Don’t worry” tells a lot about how much you think Jesus cares for you and how much power you think He has to get the job done. Usually what we worry about is that Jesus won’t get it done the way we want to get it done.
So Jesus commands us in this chapter to not worry. What do you say next?

About this Plan
Eventually, inevitably, we notice something we lack. We wonder how we’re going to get our needs met. Meet the Jesus who dares you to ask Him to give you each day your daily bread, who makes promises and keeps them, and who does immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine on a regular basis. Pastor Troy Schmidt guides us through eight promises Jesus keeps with us.
