Precious And Honoured In His Sight

DAY 11 OF 14

I don’t love theme parks. What other people see as “fun”, I see as terrifying. When I go on a ride, I feel so out of control. And I hate feeling out of control.

The desire to be in control extends to all parts of my life. Because of this, I can be a chronic worrier, because life is full of situations where I realise that I am not at all in control. What will my future look like? Will I have enough money? Will I be healthy? I don’t know.

But one thing that I do know is that I am, and you are, valuable in the eyes of our heavenly Father. Today’s verses free us from the need to worry, because even though we aren’t in control, God is, and we are precious to him. God will provide us with all we need. For this reason, the apostle Paul is able to say, in Philippians 4, that he has learnt the secret of being content in every circumstance. It is God who gives him strength. And he encourages us to draw on this strength too, saying, “and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

What do you worry most about? How do these verses help combat this worry?

About this Plan

Precious And Honoured In His Sight

The Bible tells us that all human beings are made in God’s image, and are “precious and honoured in his sight”. This series explores the value God has given us, and the wide-reaching implications this has for the way we are to think about and relate to Him, each other, and ourselves.
