Precious And Honoured In His SightSample

Romans 8:28 is my husband’s favourite Bible verse. Knowing this, for Christmas in 2016 I painted this verse and framed it for him. Little did I know that within three weeks he would be diagnosed with Stage IIIC testicular cancer and begin months of complex surgeries and debilitating chemotherapy.
However, far from disproving this verse, our experience of cancer only confirmed its truth in a deeper way. Because what is good for us isn’t necessarily a life free from pain and suffering. Our ultimate good is to be conformed to the image of Jesus. And God often uses hard times to accomplish this purpose.
I don’t know what struggles and hardships you’re going through right now, but what I do know is that God is for you. He is with you. He loves you and values you so much that he sacrificed his Son for you, and will spare nothing to guarantee your eternal, glorious future. This knowledge banishes fear. If God is for us, who can be against us?
Have you seen God working for your good in a time of suffering? How can these verses help you with what you’re facing at the moment?

About this Plan

The Bible tells us that all human beings are made in God’s image, and are “precious and honoured in his sight”. This series explores the value God has given us, and the wide-reaching implications this has for the way we are to think about and relate to Him, each other, and ourselves.
