How Passionate Are You For Jesus?Sample
PERSON WITH PASSION
You may excuse your passionless Christian life saying that is actually a normal thing to happen as one “matures” as a believer. You may justify the lack of zeal in your relationship with Jesus saying that is a matter of fact a routine thing that occurs as one “grows” in the faith. Nothing could be so further from the truth. Nothing could be so black a lie as that. We get to meet characters in the Bible who zeal and passion for the Lord was white hot even as the years rolled by.
I can tell you about Caleb. He was old – but not cold. And what was more – he was bold! To the promises of God, he did with a great eagerness hold. Hear these, his words that tell us of the ever-increasing passion for Yahweh’s cause: “I was forty years old when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadesh-Barnea to explore the land of Canaan. I returned and gave from heart a good report. …Today, I am eight five years old. I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then! So I am asking you to give me the hill country that the Lord promised me….” (Josh. 14:10-12). If Caleb’s passion for Yahweh was so persistent and permanent, or passion for Christ too can be with the same intensity!
Paul was a man with zeal and passion before His conversation – though it was a case of zeal without knowledge (Acts 22:2). Then, Paul had an encounter with Jesus, one fine day. He was knocked off the horse he rode on and was given the responsibility of becoming a “horse” for Jesus – a preacher who was so enthusiastic that he “immediately” started following Jesus (Acts 9:20). That incredibly intense Jesus-passion is still seen when Paul says years later these passionate words: “My life is worth nothing unless I use it for the work of telling others the good news about God’s wonderful kindness and love” (Acts 20:24). Since Paul’s zeal for Jesus never got punctured he could say with confidence to the believers of the church in Rome, “Never be lacking in zeal but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord!” (Rom. 12:11).
