FIVE WAYS TO PRAY

DAY 4 OF 5

PRAY WITH PREPARATION

There is a secret ingredient often overlooked when it comes to the pathway of effective prayer, and that is the simple step of preparation. Every prayer needs to be acted on in some way, this activates our faith and shows that we actually believe what we’re praying for.

No matter how small or great your prayers are, do something practical to anticipate the breakthrough. If you prayed for healing, do something you couldn’t do previously, if you prayed for a job, start making phone calls, if you prayed for wisdom, start engaging in conversations with the right people - whatever it is, take that small step in preparing for the prayer to come to pass.

All throughout scripture God has deeply desired to include humanity in on His process, He even goes to the point of calling us co-labourers with Christ. He wants to journey with us, not do it all for us, we see countless times throughout the gospel accounts of how Jesus interacted with people to see miracles take place, turning the water into wine, the multiplication of the young boys food, the man who stretched out his withered hand, just to name a few.

Here in today’s scripture, we see Paul encouraging Philemon to prepare for his prayers in anticipation of them being answered. Let it be an encouragement to us today to step out and start preparing for our prayers also.
