Finding Hope At HomeSample
Have you ever felt a plan changed by God in your home?
The third chapter of the Book of Ruth starts with Naomi having a plan and pursuing bold moves to see it happen. The plan was to find a husband and home for Ruth.
Boaz was an obvious choice because he had already noticed Ruth and showed her favor in the fields. Naomi discussed the plan with Ruth in great detail and Ruth followed it with great precision. Boaz is identified as a “kinsman redeemer.” This was a close relative of a family who was trapped in difficult circumstances. By marrying Ruth, Boaz could provide an heir to inherit the land of Naomi’s deceased husband.
Naomi is showing us how faith works along side of logic and circumstances. When our circumstances line up against God’s word then we can be bold in stepping out in faith.
As you set this time aside now to listen to the audio prayer, first pause as you reflect on a recent plan in your home that didn’t happen and you felt confused by God’s timing.

About this Plan
We all have conflict in the home at times don’t we? It can be conflict between you and your spouse, with the children, or even in-laws. We can learn a lot about finding hope in our home from the Book of Ruth in the Old Testament. It was written to the people of Israel during a difficult time in their history. The book teaches us all that sincere love often requires sacrifice. We can learn from Ruth’s story that obedience in everyday life pleases God. We can learn about the loving, faithful nature of God in times of trouble. You can also see examples of how God responds to His people’s cry and then watch as He responds. God cares for you and the outcasts of our society. If you don’t feel hope in your home don’t despair…together lets learn from Naomi and Ruth how to find hope again.
