Jeremiah emphasizes that God is in control and that Babylon is doing His will. He urges the envoys from adjacent nations and all in Jerusalem to submit to that nation. He says the remaining temple treasure will be taken and the people should now seek the welfare of Babylon for 70 years. Hananiah is to die for falsely prophesying against Jeremiah. Shemaiah will also be punished.
