Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 8Sample

588 BC Nebuchadnezzar gives orders for Jeremiah to be looked after and appoints Gedaliah king. Many Jews who had fled to surrounding nations return to Judah. Ten Jews bribed by the Ammonite king kill Gedaliah. Fearing Babylonian reprisals the rebels want to flee to Egypt. Jeremiah warns against this because God tells him He will send for Nebuchadnezzar to destroy Egypt and take people for captivity or the sword. The rebels force Jeremiah and most of the remnant of Judah to go with them.
