Jeremiah is still in Jerusalem. He laments over the ruined city and its remaining Jews who face starvation after 18 months of siege. The Lord has poured out His wrath on Jerusalem. Her enemies now deride her. The slain lie in her streets. Asaph cries to God, ‘How long O Lord? Deliver us and destroy our enemies.’
