JohnBlog - Word&Light Day 7
The light of men is a person. To become supremely enlightened, you have to receive a person: Jesus. Intellectual understanding may get you so far, but if you study the teachings of history’s wisest men, including the writers of the Bible, and do not meet Jesus, you are still in darkness. If you follow a religious system more ardently than even its founders, even a Christian religious system, you may still fail to find true and everlasting life if you miss embracing the person of Jesus. The common criminal who died on the next cross to Jesus’ got it. He was suddenly enlightened, seeing the person of Christ and reaching out for the life that he had caught a glimpse of. Judas Iscariot spent three years living with Jesus but did not get it. The religious leaders who made a life of fastidious observances in line with their understanding of the Jewish scriptures, Jesus called whitewashed tombs – scrubbed-up on the outside but dead on the inside. No everlasting life in them. Message not received. Eyes shut to the light. Jesus, manifestation of God and source of life, not received. Dead.
Jesus talking to his Father in the Garden of Eden:
Father, my Joy in at last walking in oneness of spirit with our creation, I offer to you as worship. Adam, human kind in-breathed with our Sprit. I could not have imagined how beautiful it is. Arumin, a Hebrew word, naked and unashamed; our life in him. It is the start. What must come must come. But it is beautiful beyond expression.
The Disciple:
Forgive me Lord. Like Adam, I have often rejected you. I have found irresistible the desire to use my in-breathed God-like qualities to become a god unto myself. My life became lesser when losing your life. But as with the human race, you left me to it, waiting in the wings like a patient father, giving me time to discover my poverty. The poverty of living in the flesh: living like a mere animal, when I am designed to live like God. With Adam, you waited a long time. When the time was right, the Word came again. The Word became flesh. This time to interact with your creation in a way that would change its spiritual DNA forever. With all that I am, I receive you, Life of God.

About this Plan
A meditation on John inspired by the 15th Century devotional ‘Imitation of Christ.’ In 2011 Chris Webster, a professor with positions at Hong Kong and Cambridge Universities, awoke from a 4 day coma. He started writing JohnBlog as spiritual instructions for his teenage daughter and son should he not return from a second cardiac arrest. This also tells everyone why he exuberantly loves life but considers death as gain.
