Autumn- Written by Marleen Blondeel
Day 23
When autumn sets in, it displays itself majestically doesn’t it! We associate autumn with the most beautiful colour schemes and we find ourselves bathing in the warmth of the gentle sun. As we gratefully absorb the last rays before the cold sets in, it is a good time to look back at the seasons that have passed.
A time of grateful reflection; a time to search out, count and keep the blessings that have ripened from the seeds we have sown, Ecclesiastes 3:6. This year's harvest was last year's seed. Most of us can't think of autumn without thinking of our harvest celebrations, in the U.S. this centers around Thanksgiving Day, a special time with family and friends to pause to consider how blessed we are. Autumn is a season in life for remembering and reflecting, a time to take pleasure in past and present abundance.
What are you grateful for in life? Psalm 100:4-5 AMP
Autumn is a time to look back in contentment. Never regret a day in your life: good days bring happiness and memories while bad days provide experience and lessons. The French philosopher, author, and journalist Albert Camus wrote, “autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” Yes the flower fades and falls to the ground, but its seed will bloom again.
What are you content about? 1 Timothy 6:6 AMP
Autumn is a time to ponder upon the lessons learned, whether good or bad. Most profoundly, autumn is a season without the pests of spring and summer, flies, mosquitoes, and weeds. Free from some of the pesky baggage of early days beginnings. Remember when a bad pimple would ruin a day at school? Autumn tends to eliminate the trite and petty from our experience. Autumn knows that life is too short to let personal vanity or the fickleness of public opinion keep us from daily joys. The only purposeful question to ask of things gone by is what can be learned? Or as Samuel Butler, the English author says,
“autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.”
Which major lessons have you learned so far? Job 12:12b AMP
