You're Accepted: 8 Days Post CampSample

ACCEPT THAT YOU’RE A LEADER
Do you remember playing “follow the leader” as a kid? One person is deemed “the leader” while everyone else follows and copies their every move. Run across the room, jump on one foot, stick out your tongue... you wind up doing some pretty silly things more often than not. As Christians, we live a life of following the ultimate leader, Jesus Christ! He goes before us, takes us on adventure after adventure, and establishes our steps. In following His leadership, we are identified as leaders!
This makes YOU a leader. Yeah, you!!
However, this leadership looks a little bit different than one might think. Jesus tells us in Matthew 20 that if we are to be great leaders, we must be great servants. Following the example that He set for us, we find the best type of leadership is one that serves and gives to others!
I think of it like a human pyramid. The biggest and strongest are always positioned at the foundation of the pyramid in order to support and carry more people. Because of their strength and sacrifice (whilst getting squished at the bottom), more people can be added and elevated. In this way, the pyramid can continue to grow and be built.
Being the greatest leader usually means not being afraid to get a little bit squished and dirty! It means elevating others and placing their needs above ours. And this is how we build the church! By sacrificing our time, energy, and effort to serve others, we are able to add more and more people to the church and the kingdom of God! You’re already a leader, but the “greatness” of leadership you want to achieve is up to you!
Look for ways to serve! It’s in our serving that we lead, and in our building the church that we build the kingdom of God. Ask your crew leader about ways you can get more involved in church and the opportunities to serve on a team!
