The Art Of Neighboring: Week ThreeSample

Fear can prevent us from realizing the promises of God—the abundant, generous reality he has prepared for us.
Pray
Mighty God, please deliver us from the temptation to fear. Let us be bold and courageous as we trust in you.
Read
God had delivered his people out of slavery in Egypt in a dramatic, unmistakable way. Now, they are poised to enter the land he had promised to give them.
Numbers 13:25-33
Reflect
After this incident, God commended Caleb: “My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it” (Numbers 14:24 ESV). Caleb was willing to strive and take risks as he followed God. Conviction in God’s promise gave him the courage others lacked.
Respond
If you find yourself afraid to step outside of your normal routines or what’s comfortable, turn to Scripture. Meditate on the passages that describe Christ’s love or the love we ought to have for others. Let God’s Word make you bold.

About this Plan

Have you been afraid to reach out to a neighbor? What if you offend her? What if he laughs at you? What if she isn’t interested in getting to know you? Loving others can seem risky, even intimidating. But God’s Word trains us to be bold, generous, loving neighbors.
