"Sexodus" Relationships DevotionalSample
Deprivation Equals Temptation
Sex is incredibly important in a marriage. So important that Paul sees fit to put some guidelines on it to make it clear how it ought to function. He says that essentially, in a marriage that is selfless and working properly, both the husband and the wife give authority over their body to their spouse. Paul goes one step further - don't deprive each other from sex. Paul has the attention of men everywhere at this point. What he's saying is that because sex is a natural part of life and our bodies are designed for it, when we keep our spouse from having sex, we actually set them up for temptation.
Determine ahead of time to be a selfless husband/wife who puts the needs of their spouse before their own.
