THE BLESSING OF WALKING WITH THE LORD
Many of God’s rules and covenants with the Israelites, whether the principles or the details in the book of Leviticus, are the commandments and rules that manage the life of God’s people with their Owner and Redeemer. They belong to God; therefore, they should obey God. At the same time, the Lord honours the faithfulness of His people and reigns over their lives by promising abundant blessings for their faithfulness and obedience.
All of these promised blessings are related to the enjoyment of living in fellowship with Him. All of these blessings are the consequence of living in the holiness of God. The Lord will be with them and defend them. On the other hand, their disobedience to the Lord in forms of idolatry, social injustice, and many other sinful violations, would bring punishment.
In Christ, we are the promised people who have been redeemed from the slavery of sin. When we live in holiness, obey the Word, and have an intimate fellowship with Him, we will experience life in Christ’s presence and care. Many Christians find it difficult to live in holiness, even though we have received the power and sanctification from the Lord to live in holiness when we first received Him.
What kind of holy life does the Lord expect from us? Paul explained this in Ephesians 4:17-32. Let us reflect Christ in every step of our life journey.
Our disobedience in life is our main hindrance to receiving blessings from the Lord.
