GO2020 | ENGAGE: January Week 3 - WORD

DAY 5 OF 7

January 30

Read

Hebrews 1:1–3

Reflect

Jesus is the heir of all things; through him all things were made; he is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature; and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. Yet he submitted himself to death on the cross, making purification for our sins. The song writer tries to convey the glory of this mystery with these words:

What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this,
That caused the Lord of bliss,
To bear the dreadful curse,
For my soul, for my soul,
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.

Engage

Reread the Scripture passage. You’ve now read it two days in a row. Does anything stand out to you differently than it did yesterday? Consider the ENGAGE questions again. Don’t be afraid of the repetition. We learn more about God each time we read and reread his Word.

· What does it say about God?

· What does it say about us?

· Is there a promise to trust?

· Is there a command to obey?

· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?

· With whom will I share this truth showing that I care?

Memorize

Now read this week’s memory verses, Colossians 1:18-20. Spend a few minutes working to memorize them.

About this Plan

GO2020 | ENGAGE: January Week 3 - WORD

The first disciples of Jesus were first-hand witnesses of his life, passion, death, and resurrection. They were privileged to see him in the flesh, to savor his ministry and miracles, and to worship the exalted Christ who conquered sin, death, and hell in providing a way of salvation for all of us. This is the Jesus they proclaimed, and that we have believed in through their witness.
