GO2020 | ENGAGE: February Week 4 — PRAYERSample

February 27—You Shall Receive Power
Read
Acts 1:8, 14
Reflect
Jesus will not ask us to do something without also providing all the resources that we need to do it. He calls us to be witnesses, just as he did the first disciples. To them he promised power when the Holy Spirit would come upon them. They didn’t receive this power immediately, but only after waiting for a period of ten days in fervent and continual prayer. This power was specific to the call upon their lives—to be dynamic witnesses in Jerusalem (their neighborhood) and beyond, even to the end of the earth. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to engage our neighbors with the life-giving message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What do they say about God?
· What do they say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply these Scriptures to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, James 5:16b. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.
About this Plan

GO2020 is focused on mobilizing people to pray for, care for, and share the gospel with those who don’t know Jesus. This week we will discover through God’s Word the incredible things that happen when God’s people pray.
