Flip or Flop: Change Your Situation With PraiseSample
CHANGE YOUR FOCUS
When it feels like your world is falling apart, or things are just stressing you out to the max, it’s easy to focus your thoughts and your feelings on all the problems. And then it’s real easy to feel overwhelmed.
At times like those, it’s vital to draw near to God. He is the one with the answers to every problem. And I have found that things turn around when I start my daily “God-time” by praising Him and thanking Him for all He’s done for me. I’ve found there is power in praise!
Praising and thanking God puts me in the right frame of mind—a frame of fellowship, not just asking; a frame of power, not weakness. It changes my focus from my big problem to my big God.
There’s a reason the Bible tells us to “magnify the Lord.” To magnify something means to make it bigger. Too much of the time we magnify our problems instead! When I begin to praise God it makes me realize that He is so big and so good that all things are possible with Him. Praising God can flip a situation from bad to good and fill me with faith to believe Him for the best outcome.
Some people only think of approaching God when they need something. They think of approaching God as a time when they express all their needs to Him, asking for His help.
Yes, we have needs, and yes, God wants to hear about them and help us—absolutely! But need is not what builds a relationship. What if you had a friend who only wanted to talk to you when they needed something? That would not be a very good friendship!
Remember, God wants your heart, not just your prayer requests. He wants to be close to you. He wants to share things with you. And it does your heart good when you acknowledge all He’s done for you and come to Him with a grateful and thankful attitude.
It’s easy to do, really. Isn’t He worthy of all our praise? Hasn’t He been good to us? He’s so worthy and so good!
