Nine Reasons to Read Your Bible

DAY 2 OF 3

LIVE BY FAITH AND POWER

Here are a few more good reasons to read your Bible:

2. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. All of God’s blessings come by faith (by believing that what He has said is true). First John 5:4 says, “This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” Faith comes by hearing, and it’s developed by using. Faith is crucial to your life, and it comes from the Bible.

3. It tells you how to live the God-kind of life. John 10:10 says that Jesus came to give you the God-kind of abundant life. Read in His Word about how to live life like He lives it. He’s never worried, never broke, never sick. That’s the kind of life He wants you to live.

4. It’s how you see who you are—and what needs changing. James 1:22-25 says the Word is like a mirror. It solidifies who you are (the righteousness of God in Christ) in your heart and mind, and like any mirror it also helps you see things that need changing. I’m so thankful that His Word points out things I’m not doing correctly so I can change and keep growing up in Him (see Eph. 4:14-15).

5. It’s where the power is. Romans 1:16 says the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. That word “salvation” is sozo, which means deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, soundness. When you know what belongs to you from reading in the Word, you can contend for your covenant blessings and expect the power of God to work in you and through you.

6. It’s how to know God. As you read His Word you see how He thinks, how He moves, how He loves you. You are reading God’s story, getting to know how He acts in situations, how He feels toward you. You can’t get closer to God without reading His Word.

About this Plan

Nine Reasons to Read Your Bible

In a world that’s constantly changing, constantly confusing, and very often wrong, the Bible is an anchor—the foundation of our life. It’s God talking to us, His instructional manual for living. Matthew 24:35 says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.” When we read the Bible regularly, we can get to know God in a deeper way and live a supernatural life!
