The Whole Story: A Life in God's Kingdom, Part FourSample
Family Devotional:
The outline of the sacrificial system of Israel is a depiction of the acts of faith that Israel was to carry out in response to both their sin and their desire to be a part of God’s kingdom family. Using well-known practices of the day, God led his people to demonstrate faith in ways that would honor him and also honor each other. For example, Leviticus 5:4 calls God’s people to be true to their word. In other words, if they make an obligation, they are to honor that obligation. Jesus reflects on this mandate in Matthew 5:37, where he teaches his people that going against one’s word is, literally, “from the evil one.”
Daily Demonstration:
How well would you say you keep your word? In faith, let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no and watch how God uses your faithfulness to advance the Gospel.
