River Valley Church SOAP - Part 4Sample
Luke was not an apostle of Jesus but a physician and a follower of Jesus. He was meticulous in examining and presenting accounts about Jesus to Theophilus, who appears to be a person of significance based on the way he is addressed in the Gospel. The narrative opens with an angelic visit from Gabriel announcing the birth of John, the one prophesied to prepare the way for Jesus, and then the birth of Jesus. As the story unfolds, we read about the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth and see a quick snapshot into His early years. Fast forward to John the Baptist’s teaching and proclamation about the One who would baptize with the Holy Spirit, Christ. Jesus appears on the scene and then immediately goes into the wilderness for forty days to be tempted by the Devil. He emerged from His time in the power of the Spirit and began to heal and bring hope to people.
