Choosing Faith Over FearSample
Day 4: We Do NOT Have a Spirit of Fear
Before we even jump in, read that title again. Go ahead and say it out loud! It doesn’t matter if you’re in the car, at work, eating breakfast with your family, or completely alone. I’ll even do it with you. Okay, ready? We do NOT have a spirit of fear! If you actually said it out loud, I would love to be able to know the reactions of the people around you. Here is why: because it is some of the best news that you (and the people around you) will hear all day!
If I can encourage you in one thing today, it is that you are not called to be fearful. In 2 Timothy 1:7, we read the apostle Paul’s words that God did not give us a spirit of fear. I don’t know about you, but if God’s word tells me something, that’s more than good enough for me. It brings me comfort to know that God created me with a spirit of power, self-discipline, and love. In a fearful situation God has literally created you and given you everything that you need to be an overcomer.
Over the next two days we will focus on the spirit that God did give us. But before we do that, do you fully believe that God has given you the ability to overcome fear? Do you have faith that God has equipped you with everything that you need to live out the call on your life? Maybe you want to believe but you can’t fully grasp that God has given you his Spirit. We’re going to work on changing that today!
Focus: Today I want you to make a list of the things that are stopping you from believing that the Spirit of God lives in you. Place that list somewhere you can see it every morning. Day by day, I want you to cross out one thing on that list. Next write a Bible verse that describes why those crossed out words are a lie from the enemy. Then, every day until that list is completely crossed off, recite and pray over those truths. If you write down that you’re weak, speak the truth that God’s strength is in you. If you cross out that you’re worthless, pray every day for you to know how valuable your Creator says you are. Let’s spend more time focusing on what God says about us and less about the lies the enemy throws at us.

About this Plan
If you’re reading this, you’ve experienced fear. Fear exists in our everyday life. Fear lies. Fear steals. Fear kills. We have a choice every day to choose faith over fear. My intention is that this Bible plan will equip you with the courage to choose to be faith filled in fearful situations.
