Choosing Faith Over FearSample
Day 7: Be a Light in the Darkness
If you’re reading this, I want to take the time to say thank you for choosing faith over fear. In a fearful situation, you have the tools to be faith-filled. You have the Spirit of God that will direct your every footstep as we push back the darkness and the lies of the enemy. You have a calling to help grow the population of heaven. You have the ability to destroy the works of hell. You have the opportunity to be a light in the darkness.
In Matthew 5, Jesus is preaching his Sermon on the Mount. He goes on to talk about how you and I are called to be a light. That we cannot be hidden. That we are called to let our light shine before others so that our good deeds are seen and that they glorify our Father in Heaven. What does all that mean?
It means that being a Christian isn’t about observation. It’s all about participation. We are literally called to go. We are called to share the love of Jesus in the darkest places. We are called to chase Jesus to the ends of the Earth and to love his people well. We’re not called to just attend church on a Sunday, but to be the church and illuminate a world of darkness every single day.
Focus: Choose faith. Choose to be a light. I pray that you would chase after the heart of Jesus in every season. When life is easy and when life is so hard that it’s difficult to even take another step. Choose Jesus. There are people in your life who have no idea who Jesus is; you have an opportunity to be a light in the darkness. I’m challenging you to share the love of Jesus to someone in your life. Maybe that’s inviting them to church, maybe it’s sharing your testimony, maybe it’s just being present and choosing to pray over them in a difficult season. Whatever it is, make the choice today to choose faith over fear.
