Acts 22:6-7
6 “As I was on the road, approaching Damascus about noon, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shone down around me.
7 I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’’
In our text today, we find the Apostle Paul standing before a hostile crowd. Paul has been arrested, but before he is taken away, he asks the Roman Officer if he could address the crowd. Paul speaks to the crowd and shares with them his personal testimony of how he came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Paul talks about how Jesus met him on the road to Damascus and how his life has been forever changed.
Paul’s testimony is actually recorded three different times in the book of Acts. I believe this was done intentionally by the Holy Spirit to show the power of a personal testimony. As Christians, the one thing that we all have in common is a testimony of when we meet Jesus. We all have a time in our life when we meet Jesus, and everything changed. Our testimonies are as unique as we are, but they all have one thing in common, once we were lost and now are found!
Sharing our faith in Jesus can be a very intimidating thing. We worry about what we will say or that we don’t have enough knowledge about the Bible. But like Paul, our greatest tool when sharing our faith is our personal experience with Jesus. We don’t have to be a great theologian to talk about Jesus; we just have to be willing to tell people our experience with HIM. Pray today that God would open the door for you to be able to share your personal testimony with someone.
