DAY 10 OF 17

A Happy Reunion

Colossians 3:13

Do not be angry with each other, but forgive one another.

After Jacob and Esau lived separately for about 20 years, Jacob decided to reunite with Esau. He sent his messengers to tell Esau that he was coming to meet him. The messengers came back to Jacob and said that Esau was coming to meet him instead, along with 400 men!

This worried Jacob, because he thought Esau was coming to take revenge over what happened in the past. To overcome this fear, he found a place to pray and begged God to protect him and his family.

From afar, Jacob bowed down to the ground as he approached his brother to show his regret and apologies. Esau ran to Jacob and gave him a big hug and they both wept tears of joy, because they missed each other so much. Finally after 20 years, Jacob and Esau were together again.

Jacob was grateful that Esau had so mercifully forgiven him of all the wrongs he had done and that their relationship was restored. Forgiveness is the first step in restoring relationships.

Prayer

Dear God, thank You for Your wonderful gift of forgiveness. Help me to be merciful and forgiving to other people just as You are to me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
