Human: An 8 Day Devotional by Mosaic MSCSample
STEADY
“He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his song, Jesus Christ our lord.”
1 Corinthians 1:8-9
"You are constant in the way that you forgive me
Steady as the moon that shifts the tide
Consistent in the way that you believe in me
True in how you choose me every time
Till the end
I will stand with you
To the end
Devoted to you
To the end
I will sing to you
To the end
To the end
You can count on me
To the end
Faithfully
To the end
I will sing to you
Till the end
You are constant in the way that you amaze me
Steady as the moon that brings the night
Consistent in the way that you’re redeeming me
True in how my past won’t change your mind
Till all time runs out and my breath wears thin
You will hear my voice, my imperfect melody
When my bones are dust and my hands can’t raise
You will hear my voice and my love will last
To the end"
When I think of someone who has remained consistent in my life, regardless of my consistency, I realize that I have this deep commitment to be as loyal to them as they have been to me. When I think of a friend or a family member who has been a steady and constant force of good in my life, I push myself to be someone that they can count on even more. The lyrics begin with all of the things Jesus is to us. He is steady in forgiveness. He always believes in us and always chooses us. He always redeems and never lets our past get in the way of our future.
Sometimes it feels as if we don’t have enough to offer Jesus for what He has done for us. There is no offering or praise that could even out the playing field. What I have found is that Jesus wants faithfulness and I want to be in the middle of what God is doing.
I want to be ready for battle.
I want to be the one Jesus knows as faithful.
I want to be the one He can count on no matter how difficult or crazy the ask might be.
Steady is a promise and a commitment to Jesus that when He needs someone to act or be faithful or stick with it, that I will be there. I have always had this desire to be remembered by a life of gratitude. This song is a song of gratitude; not just with words, but with action.
The bridge is our battle cry that screams:
"In all of my imperfections,
In all of my brokenness
Until my dying breath,
Until I am no longer a body on this earth,
The world will hear of what you have done for me.
I will never be done being grateful.
I will never be done standing by your side, ready to move, ready to go."
ACTION
Spend some time asking God where He is calling you and what your next steps are. Don’t waste a moment to move when God speaks.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank you for your steady hand and for your unreal kindness; that you always choose me and that no matter my past, you never change your mind about me. I pray that you would give me the opportunity to step up and step into what you are calling me to, and that I would do so with courage, faithfulness and devotion. I pray that you would count on me to move on your behalf, and you would entrust me with great things. I am ready, I am ready, I am ready. Amen.
