GO2020 | ENGAGE: June Week 2- ABIDESample
June 9—The Role of Prayer for New Believers
Read
Ephesians 3:14-21
Reflect
The prayers of the Apostle Paul are deep and inspiring. Today’s passage is one of Paul’s prayers for those whom he had the privilege of leading to Christ in Ephesus. It is certainly noble to share Christ with people, but that is not enough. The growth of new believers in Christ must be our constant focus in prayer. Notice the main points of emphasis in Paul’s prayer: 1) that the new believers would be strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit in their inner being; 2), that Christ would dwell in their hearts through faith; and, 3) that they would be rooted and grounded in Christ’s love.
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, Jude 1:20. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.

About this Plan
This week we will focus on how to encourage the growth of those who have responded positively during this season of evangelism and outreach. We must encourage them in their faith and help them to grow in Christ. God has given us a commission to make disciples who will also make disciples. We can trust God for guidance from the Holy Spirit and from his Word.
