Optimal Men's Health with Dr. BobSample

Rest Is Best
God takes rest seriously. After completing creation, no small feat, He rested and blessed the seventh day, which many of us refer to as the Sabbath. Moses takes it a step further in Exodus when he tells the children of Israel if anyone works on the seventh day, even to kindle fire; they shall be put to death. While we might consider that concept to be somewhat extreme today, are you giving your body the rest it requires?
Every day I see practice members who are physically exhausted from lack of sleep. To wake up rested and awake, I recommend eight hours of sleep per night. I am in bed by ten because I know the hours before midnight are when your body releases growth hormone that helps to promote overall healing in your body. If you find yourself waking up consistently throughout the night, your body might be signaling it needs B vitamins or has elevated blood sugar. Minimizing your grain intake, I have found to help individuals sleep better.
As we rest and honor God with a Sabbath day, we are strengthening our body and placing our trust in Him to direct our paths. I pray you make decisions today that will not compromise your body’s need for rest. For additional sleep content, please visit these tips.
