Gathered Again

DAY 1 OF 5

Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together!

With everything that happened in the Spring semester of 2020, college students are longing for getting back together. Some have been able to do so during the summer and many more will be gathering again as the Fall semester begins at universities and colleges around the country. Some will still not be allowed to gather officially, but my guess is they may find an unofficial way to do so.

There is something about the coming together of people that has power. We are meant to connect to one another. We do it around sports, politics, special interests, Greek letters, ministries, churches, and even clubs. We all thrive in community, together!

The early believers gathered to hear the apostles teach, pray, and eat together. Learning, praying, and (for us Southern Baptists) eating together are holy moments. The text today ends with the statement, “And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved.” I don’t think it’s an accident that they experienced this growth. When the world sees that kind of community, they are drawn to it.

As we come back to our campuses this fall, let’s devote ourselves as churches and ministries to meeting together around those same three principles. Get involved in studying God’s Word. Gather a few friends and pray for awakening and revival. And don’t forget to leverage the power of eating a meal with a not yet saved friend along with a few of your fellow believers!
