“Extending A Hand”
Leprosy is a skin disease that is extremely contagious. It leaves lepers alone and secluded from everyone else. In Jesus’s day, when lepers walked into a crowd, they would have to yell, “Unclean! Unclean!” Everyone would scatter when they were nearby. So when a leper came to Jesus looking for help, how would Jesus respond?
The leper had a great faith to walk straight up to Jesus in hopes that he would be gracious enough to heal him. Jesus knew that simply by his words, he could heal the leper, but he did something that no one expected. Jesus reached out his hand and touched the leper. When everyone around him ran the other direction, Jesus reached out and made the leper feel loved. Each one of us has sin in our life that separates us from God. But because of Jesus in our life, God doesn’t run the other way; He reaches out His loving hand for us.
Pray
- Ask God to give you courage to act differently than everyone else.
- Thank God for sending Jesus to reach out to us even though we are sinners.
- Pray and ask God to help you see where you need faith in Him.
