Matthew: Part 1Sample

In this passage, Jesus calls his first disciples (or students). They would spend every day with Jesus, learning from Him to do the kinds of things that He did.
Now, when Jesus chose his students, He didn’t look for the most talented. He didn’t look for the best speakers. He didn’t go to the synagogues to get the best religious students.
He chose fishermen—not the most gifted, not the best communicators, not the most educated.
But they jumped at the opportunity. We’re told they dropped their nets, left everything they knew behind, and followed Jesus.
You see, God isn’t looking for the best or most gifted. God is looking for willing.
This week, pray this simple prayer, “God, I’m willing.” Then, keep your eyes open for opportunities to serve Him this week. You might serve by doing the dishes, helping someone with school work, or giving some encouragement to someone who’s having a rough day. These can be simple things, but they show God that you're willing to serve Him and willing to help.

About this Plan

About this plan: As followers of Jesus, one of the best things we can do is look at Jesus’ life and learn from Him. Join us as we look at the first ten chapters of Matthew. Each day has a suggested reading, but don't let that stop you from reading the entire chapter!
