You’d think after giving a long talk Jesus would end by telling everyone listening, “You can do this! You’ve got it!” But, that’s not how the Sermon on the Mount ends.

Jesus does not give a word of encouragement. He gives a warning. He talks about two people who build houses. One person builds their house on sand. The other person builds their house on stone. A storm comes and the house with the sand foundation is destroyed, but the house built on rock stood strong.

If you’re building your life on anything other than Jesus, it’s going to eventually, at some point, let you down. It’s going to lead to disappointment, frustration, and anxiety.

On the other hand, if you build your life on Jesus, life may not always be easy, but you have something strong to lean on. You have a good, solid foundation.

How do you know if you’re building your life on Jesus? Don’t miss what Jesus says. 

If you: 

1. hear his teachings and 

2. follow them!

We don’t just want to know about Jesus. We don’t just want to think Jesus was a good guy. We want to follow Him. We want to listen to His teachings and actually put them into practice. 

Today, find a rock and put it somewhere you will see it everyday to remind you to build your life on Jesus.
