Total Dependence
To depend on something or someone means to be subject to its conditions, limitations or restrictions. It also means to be under the protection, mandate or authority of that person.
When dependencies are unhealthy, one thinks that they cannot live, move forward, or enjoy life without them. But today I want to introduce you to a thought that God put in my heart and I believe it will bring freedom to your life:
We must learn to depend on God at all times. Just as God told Abraham that He is more than enough and the source of every blessing, He is also saying it to you.
As human beings, we run at a thousand miles an hour, thinking we can do it all. But it is when we reach the end of our strength, when we say "I can't take it anymore", that God can intervene. At that moment, we are exactly where He wants us to be, the position in which we stop trying and start resting in Him.
If you feel that today you have reached the end of your strength, be happy, because you are in the right place. You may have spent all your energy trying to take control of things or to make everything go well for you, but don't forget that God is more than enough for every area of your life. He is the source of every blessing.
In the Old Testament, we see time after time how God's people stopped being dependent. Moses, a man of God, a leader of multitudes, the person that God used to bring the Israelites out of Egypt, climbs the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments.
Seeing that he has not yet returned, the impatient Israelites approach Aaron to ask him to make them a god to worship and to thank for bringing them out of Egypt.
Then Aaron, Moses' right-hand man, also a leader, instead of objecting and telling the people with conviction that this is not right, surrenders and, after collecting the gold, makes them a calf.
The Israelites depended on one man instead of depending on God. Moses took more time to return than they expected, and they were disoriented to the point where they forgot God and made a new god to worship.
Human beings are imperfect and will fail you. That's why it's so important to understand that our God is relational, that we can totally depend on Him and that we have direct access to Him through Jesus Christ.
Are you totally dependent on Him?
