I Depend

DAY 4 OF 7

I Depend on His Mercy

Many times in the church we make the mistake of believing that pastors, those who are on a platform or have a certain title, are more perfect than others. If you have not yet realized that this is a lie, I want to tell you something simple, but transforming: I, too, am a simple sinner saved by the grace of God. I depend on His mercy in the same way that you do.

If you haven't sinned yet today, just wait until you're stuck in rush hour traffic tomorrow and God tells you to love the one who is driving poorly.

God says in His word that His mercy is renewed every day. Have you ever wondered why? Because it is not kept from one day to the next, because we constantly fail and depend on it every day.

Today's scripture reminds us that God is light and that there is no darkness in Him. Many times, we are afraid to accept our mistakes and live by deceiving ourselves; but the Bible reminds us that, by confessing our sins, we are forgiven and cleansed of all unrighteousness by our God, who is faithful and just.

This is why I do not wake up in the morning focused on my sin, but on His mercy, because I depend on it daily. Today I want to encourage you to change your focus, because that will change your way of living. If you depend on His mercy, you will go from condemning yourself for failing to lifting up your hands to glorify the name of God.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, "When you have only God left, you have more than enough to start over."

What is stopping you from starting over? Are you waiting to be perfect? Are you waiting to fulfill all the religious requirements?

Many times we ourselves are the ones who sabotage our future, believing that his mercy applies to everyone else but us. But my friend, God is more than enough to start over. He has a bright and glorious future for you, and His mercy is new every day.
