Bitterness can build without us even realizing it; however, our Father always holds love and mercy for us.  In these versus, the older brother was not aware of all that he DID have!  Surrounded by his father’s love, in his home and blessed with daily conversation.  He was obedient to his father, but unaware of how much he was loved.  This father showed his unconditional love to both sons when the younger returned.  Our Father loves us too! All of us, unconditionally with open arms!
