SAME CALLING, DIFFERENT COURAGE
If we have the same calling as those in the Bible, then why does our courage look so different? Think about how radically different our churches and our world would look if those people who express belief in Christ would live courageous, bold lives for the Kingdom. So what stops us from having courage like someone like Abraha?
As you'll read in the verses for today, Abraham stepped out in courage, even though there were certainly obstacles. The reason we often can't step out in courage is because we focus on the PROBLEMS more than God's PROMISES. But in reality, those problems are just setting you up to put your faith in God's promises in order to walk out what God has for you. Abraham could've been overwhelmed by the fact that he was leaving all he'd ever known (a life of prosperity) to move somewhere unknown, without any provision, to follow a God that he thought he heard. The enemy would've taken any chance he got to convince Abraham that his problems would stand in the way of anything Abraham would have hoped for. Instead, he trusted God's promises, and believe that his problems would be worked out by a God that had purpose for him. That same God has placed a purpose in you!
Focus on the PROMISES, not the PROBLEMS.
Practical Steps: Take time today to review the promises that God gave to Abraham and consider how he focused on the promises instead of the problems.
About this Plan
A famous mixed martial arts fighter, Ronda Rousey, popularized this phrase, 'Bout That Life, in 2015 at the height of her career. She explained that many people want the glory of success, but are unwilling to do what it takes to get there. This Bible Plan looks at the lives of a few Biblical characters who were definitely 'Bout That Life: willing to do whatever it took to follow God. God's calling has remained the same through centuries: the question is, what will our response be?
