'Bout That Life

DAY 5 OF 10

SAME CALLING, DIFFERENT COURAGE

Maybe you're having trouble walking your calling out with courage because you're making your decisions with the wrong logic. Just like in mathematics in school, if you have the wrong equation, you'll always get the wrong answer. Typically we assume that common sense + other's opinions + the easiest option = the best decision. That's not how God works.

Rarely is our 'common sense' the sense that God uses.

This is because God works in ways that we can't even understand - the Bible says that His ways are higher than our ways. So instead of looking at our circumstances with 'common sense' and running them through the filter of others' opinions, we should have faith in the God who holds the universe in place and our lives in the balance and believe His promises.

Or we can continue to lead mediocre lives devoid of the courage, faith, and boldness that characterized the characters in the Bible - but we can't live that way and continue to wonder why we're not seeing God-sized miracles and events happening. In fact, when we begin to live lives that are fully relying on God's Promises, we find that things actually don't get easier, they get more difficult. When you step out in courage, expect opposition. But how much better is it to live a life of Courage in Christ met with opposition than a mediocre life where we slide by, never accomplishing anything of significance for God!

Practical Steps: Pray this morning that God would help you to make courageous choices instead of the easy, 'common sense' choices.

About this Plan

'Bout That Life

A famous mixed martial arts fighter, Ronda Rousey, popularized this phrase, 'Bout That Life, in 2015 at the height of her career. She explained that many people want the glory of success, but are unwilling to do what it takes to get there. This Bible Plan looks at the lives of a few Biblical characters who were definitely 'Bout That Life: willing to do whatever it took to follow God. God's calling has remained the same through centuries: the question is, what will our response be?
