River Valley Church New Testament Soap Sprint Sample

As the plot of John's gospel remains in a time of seclusion for Jesus leading up to His crucifixion, John's narrative shifts to focus on Jesus' in-depth conversations on how to live according to God’s will. Even though He repeatedly tells His disciples that He will soon be killed, Jesus promises that they will be given another Helper who will be with them forever. Ultimately, this promise foreshadows the release of the Holy Spirit's work in and through the disciples, which will be the main thrust of the book of Acts. As John takes his audience through the final moments of Jesus' life on earth, we trace themes of remembrance and bearing witness. After recounting Jesus' resurrection and fulfillment of God's Word, John’s gospel concludes with a reminder that all of his narrative was written so that we may believe the truth and have life in Jesus’ name.
